Hi! I am Amy Barnette.
I am a holistic health and fitness coach. I am also someone who understands first-hand what it is like to struggle with food, weight, and body image.
Food and weight was an all consuming battle for me for over two decades!
However, this struggle turned out to be my greatest teacher and led me down the path of self-discovery. I have learned a lot as I've worked to heal my relationship with food as well as through my health coach training program.
I am now passionate about supporting women from the other side.
I have always been interested in health and fitness. I have been an athlete since middle school – swimming in both high school and college. I became a group exercise instructor in college and have been teaching ever since; I found my niche in the cycling room.
I decided to pursue health coaching shortly after I began to speak about my own struggles with the people who took my cycle classes. As I began to share my story, I realized just how many of us struggle. We don't often talk about food struggles; we keep them hidden and suffer silently.
I became a health coach and launched Making Peace with the Pantry with the intention of building a trustworthy and inspiring community for women to explore their relationship with food and take control of their health and wellness.
I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I studied over 100 dietary theories and learned innovative coaching methods and practical lifestyle management techniques. My education has equipped me with extensive, cutting-edge knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and prevention.
Education and Training
In addition to my health coach training, I have been involved in the fitness industry since college and I've been an indoor cycling instructor for 17 years. I have an understanding of the mind-body connection and how to break through limiting beliefs and old thought patterns.
I also have my Master's Degree in education and spent several years teaching and many more years working in the central office of our local school district.
Over the years, I have honed my skills for educating, motivating, inspiring, and empowering others. Health coaching allows me to culminate these skills in a career that I am completely passionate about.
You and me. We are going to make a great team!
